Organizations—for-profit companies, nonprofits, cities, governments, schools, families, associations etc.—are where everything happens. Organizations make our entire society possible. And, crucially, underneath any frameworks and bureaucracy that might exist, they are all entirely composed of human beings.

And organizations reflect the level of consciousness of the human beings within them. If we want more beneficial outcomes for ourselves and for the ecosystems we're part of, we need organizations to be more conscious—which means we need the individuals and leaders within them to be more conscious.

When we show up as conscious leaders and build conscious companies, the effects are felt at every level. Individually, we're more satisfied and fulfilled. We feel that our work genuinely matters. Relationally, we communicate better, listen more deeply, and understand how others want to be treated. And when relationships are stronger, teams are stronger: teams built on trust, mutual respect, and genuine appreciation are far more effective than those held together only by rules and role obligations.

That foundation is what sets the stage for truly effective organizations: fulfilled individuals, deep relationships, highly functional teams. Organizations that are connected to purpose, capable of making a positive difference in the world, and able to do well in the process. Because companies that do good also tend to do well. When people are engaged, when they have good friends at work and life-giving interactions with their teams, the entire organization (and in turn the communities they serve) benefit from the creativity, drive, motivation, curiosity, and willpower of every single person within that organization.

About Ben

I have always been driven by a conviction that work should be meaningful—and that conviction has led me through a winding but satisfying career path.

I originally thought I'd work in environmental science or environmental chemistry, because I've always had a strong passion for conservation, protecting the planet, and addressing climate change. But as I kept studying, I came to the conclusion that society already had many of the scientific solutions to environmental problems. The challenge was that people weren't implementing them.

So I shifted to environmental policy, thinking it might be a political or social issue. But after a couple of years, I reached a similar conclusion: there were plenty of people in politics trying to make positive environmental change, but things kept getting stuck.

What I ultimately concluded is that if I wanted to make a real difference—for the planet, for society—what the world needs most is more conscious human beings. More conscious leaders. More conscious organizations. So I decided that I would do whatever I could to create that change in the world.

Why Organizations?

How I Work

I work in close partnership with clients and co-facilitators, and my practice spans a few different kinds of engagements, depending on what an organization actually needs. I believe the wisdom is already in the room. My job is to help teams access it.

For some clients, that's a single corporate Enneagram workshop or a one-day team development session: a focused experience that builds self-awareness, enables effective communication, and gives teams a shared language for how they work together. For others, it's a multi-day nature-based leadership retreat, or a multi-month cohort program that builds leadership capacity over time. And for some organizations, it's an ongoing consulting relationship—helping build or run learning and development programs on a fractional basis.

I live in Maine, and I work with organizations across the US and Canada, with a particular focus on New England and New York. Industries I've worked in include manufacturing, luxury retail, healthcare, cleantech, financial services, utilities, and nonprofits. Engagements are always customized—I don't bring a fixed curriculum and impose it. I bring frameworks and experience, and I design around what each client actually needs.

The frameworks I rely on most are the Enneagram, Conscious Leadership, Appreciative Inquiry, and the Xchange Approach. Here are brief descriptions; you can find longer descriptions of these frameworks on my Services page, and examples of specific engagements on my Portfolio page.

The Enneagram is a system for understanding core motivations, default patterns under stress, and the unique gifts each person brings to a team. I use it not to put people in boxes, but as a living map, helping individuals and teams understand why they do what they do, especially under pressure. It's one of the most practical (and fun!) tools I've found for leadership and team development.

Conscious Leadership gives leaders a way to recognize when they've shifted into reactivity—and concrete tools for returning to a more grounded, creative, and effective way of being a transformational leader.

Appreciative Inquiry and strengths-based facilitation ground everything I do in the belief that every team already has wisdom, capacity, and strengths worth building on. My job isn't to fix what's broken; it's to help teams access their innate superpowers..

The Xchange Approach informs how I design and facilitate group experiences, creating conditions for genuine dialogue, collective intelligence, and real ownership of outcomes.

My Home Base

I choose to live and work from Maine because it is a major source of inspiration for my personal and professional growth. A deep connection to the natural world shapes everything I do, from the frameworks I use to the clients I'm most drawn to work with. I especially love working with leaders who love nature, and with mission-driven organizations whose work reflects a real commitment to people and planet.

My practice serves organizations across the US and Canada, with a particular focus on New England and New York. I work on-site and virtually, and I'm available for multi-day retreats, single-day workshops, and longer consulting engagements.
